A couple of weeks ago while spending a bit of time along the river with my grandson I visualized this image for the November wallpaper and I think this photograph comes close to what I was hoping for. If I had to give a title for this photograph it would be “Mast Year” — referring to the cornucopia of acorns the oak trees have dropped this year.
In the interest of full disclosure while the photograph is authentic the scene is slightly constructed. I wanted to capture the feeling of the large number of acorns that were sitting under this large oak tree but nothing came together quite the way I had hoped it would so I have to admit that I picked up a few acorns along the shoreline and dropped them into the water near these leaves to up the count of them in the composition. (I actually dropped quite a few more but they were carried downstream — these are the ones that stayed in the vicinity. It was interesting ad hoc lesson about the different densities of acorns!)
