July 2010 Wallpaper

Wow, it seems like the days are getting shorter and shorter…  I hope your summer isn’t flying by as fast as mine is — these are days we should be savoring.  While we pound away at our daily lives trying to make a difference or just getting by, this photo reminds us that there are others out there working on smaller, but no less beautiful projects.

June 2010 Wallpaper

June is here and the flowers are blooming. The rose bush in our front lawn is really enjoying the weather we’re having here because it has exploded with blossoms. I tried my hand at some macro photography of the blooms after a passing rainshower.

May 2010 Wallpaper

May arrived here in New England with a warm breeze and a beautiful Spring day.  This month’s wallpaper is an abstract water scene taken in my backyard in Maynard, Massachusetts.

April 2010 Wallpaper

April’s image was taken a year ago as we visited a number of National Wildlife Refuges along the east coast. This image was taken at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge outside of Savannah, Georgia.

Our itinerary didn’t allow for much in the way of ideal timing for light and conditions. In this case the image was taken around two in the afternoon on a fairly sunny day — not on a misty morning. The hanging mosses and sunlight on the road still made for an enchanting visit.

March 2010 Wallpaper

The image from March was taken yesterday at Danforth Brook in Hudson, Massachusetts.  With a recent deluge of rain the past few days most of the rivers and streams in central and eastern Massachusetts are well above their normal flows.  Amid this turmoil this sculpture of twigs, leaves, evergreens, and ice was hidden away in a quiet corner of the brook behind a small dam of leaves.  This image reminds us that it isn’t Spring yet, but it’s not that far away.

A video of my recent visit to Danforth Brook will be posted in the next few days.  In the meantime, if you like this image you can download it to your computer and use it as your desktop wallpaper.  A few of the common screen sizes are available:

February 2010 Wallpaper

Assabet River Ice - February 2010 Wallpaper

Here is the February 2010 wallpaper for your favorite computer display. I thought I’d celebrate Valentine’s Day with a splash of red (ok, pink!

This month’s image comes from a spot just mile or so upriver of our home, an abstract of ice and water on the Assabet River in Stow, Massachusetts.

This is an image that will likely be part of an exhibit I’m assembling for later this year exploring the places “in between” – in this case between water and ice.

Happy New Year

January 2010 Wallpaper

I’d like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

I’m going to be making at least one of my images available each month suitable as your desktop “wallpaper”.  I’ve made them available in a few of the more popular screen sizes, so I hope one of them will suit your needs.  January’s image comes from the depths of winter in Yellowstone National Park.
